Valley of Fire State Park: Fire Wave and Seven Wonders

Miles: 1.9

3-17-19

This was a nice short morning hike. We got into Vegas late so we set up our tent at a free campsite outside of the park. I use freecampsites.com and I love it. The next morning, before heading into Utah, we spent a few hours in the park. I had been there twice before, but this was the first time doing this hike.

The fire wave is cool. For good pictures go at sunset.

Highlights: I actually like the Seven Wonders section the best. There were several neat caves that Daniel climbed around in.

Lowlights: There were a lot of people at the fire wave taking pictures. It is easily accessible from the road, so more people visit it. We didn't even stop to take a picture there as we wanted to move on past the crowds.

Tips: I love this park. There are a lot of great trails and beautiful colors. But hike early. It gets REALLY HOT. We finished our hike by 10:30, in mid-March, and we were already seeking shade and wishing for sun lotion.
